Conference Mass: Principal Celebrant, Bishop Timothy Menezes SLL

We are very pleased that the new Auxiliary Bishop of Birmingham, Bishop Timothy Menezes SLL, has agreed to  celebrate our Conference Mass on Sunday morning at 11.15 in St Francis of Assisi, Warwick Road, Kenilworth.

Bishop Timothy was born on 8 July 1970 and studied for his Formation to the Priesthood at St Mary’s College, Oscott and the Venerable College in Rome.

He was ordained a priest at St Dunstan’s, Kings Heath on 22 July 1995 and after further studies in Rome, was appointed Assistant Priest at St Michael’s, Wolverhampton.  After 3 years as Assistant Priest in Redditch, Fr Timothy was appointed the Archbishop’s Secretary in 2000 and 4 years later took up his first position as Parish Priest at St Thomas More in Coventry, In 2011 he was appointed Vicar General and 8 years later Dean at St Chad’s Cathedral.

Bishop Timothy was ordained a Bishop on 16 July 2024.

“A vocation to the priesthood is one of my earliest memories and my faith has been nourished by my family. It has been a privilege to have served as a priest for 29 years. I am grateful to those who have shaped my life though every pastoral experience and I ask those who have been part of the journey of life to pray for me now.

I have always tried to encourage the young to know the importance of their place in the Church and to value their joyful witness of hope.

In this new role as a Shepherd, I will continue  to serve the Lord, encouraging the People of God, the religious and my fellow Clergy to know God’s love for them and together to build the Kingdom of God beginning with the needs of those whom we might have left behind: those who are homeless, the asylum seeker and those for whom the Church owes a special duty of care”.
